I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in North Walsham, Norfolk and Norwich
I trained to become a Counsellor and Psychotherapist originally in Nottingham at the SPTI ( Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute) in 2007. From a young age, I had always been interested to know what shapes and influences our development, based on the early parenting that we receive and experience and as babies and children. This interest and curiosity to understand myself and others , lead me to do a Psychology degree initially. Several years later, when I was in my mid twenties and needed some help myself, I entered into my own personal therapy with a psychotherapist and the experience was life changing. Having had such a positive experience of psychotherapy, I decided I wanted to train to become a psychotherapist myself, to help people like I had been helped.
I have helped many people over the past 14 years. I have worked Previously as a volunteer in a Counselling Service within the NHS, also within a Further education College as a Counsellor helping 16-19 year olds and have run a successful private practice in Nottingham prior to moving to Norfolk two years ago where I have continued to work in private practice.
Clients I have worked with say they experience me as someone who is caring, compassionate and accepting of them, they feel listened to, validated and supported on their journey with me alongside them. They feel encouraged and metaphorically held to make what can often be very difficult or scary changes to their lives and they report often a sense of enriched relationships as well as importantly, a renewed relationship with themselves. I am told that I can be appropriately challenging with my clients so that clients can feel empowered to make healthy changes in their lives so that ultimately, they can leave therapy and take all that they have learnt in therapy with them to the next part of their journey.
